About
havayolu is a public, free live flight tracking site with Istanbul Airport as its top priority. It is built and run by emindemirciai.
What it shows
- Live map: aircraft position, altitude, ground speed, vertical rate and identity (flight number, callsign, registration, aircraft type).
- Search: find an airborne aircraft by flight number, callsign, registration or hex code.
- Airports: codes, runways and nearest airports for every listed airport.
- Weather: on every airport page, the latest aviation weather report (METAR), the aerodrome forecast (TAF) and a log of the last 24 hours of reports; a short summary when you click an airport on the map.
What it does not show
ADS-B only provides position, altitude, speed and identity. Without schedule data, the following are not available:
- scheduled departure and arrival times
- delays, gates, terminals, baggage, codeshares and cancellations
- a departures board before take-off
- searching by flight number before take-off for flights with alphanumeric callsigns
Method
Aircraft positions come from the ADS-B signals that aircraft broadcast and, for some aircraft, from multilateration (MLAT), which computes the position from several receivers’ measurements. The ADSB.lol network, which collects these signals from receivers on the ground, is the only live data source.
Live aircraft data is currently fetched only over Türkiye and the surrounding area; most aircraft outside it do not appear on the map. Within it, coverage depends on receivers: aircraft at low altitude or on the ground may be missing in some areas.
Target data age: about 20 s within 74 km (40 NM) of the primary station, about 30 s around the other monitored airports and about 90 s in the data fetch area over eastern Türkiye. The status line on the map shows the actual data age around the primary station (or, if that is unavailable, the age of the newest data); the area you are viewing may differ.
Monitored airports: Istanbul Airport (IST, primary station), Ankara Esenboğa Airport (ESB), Antalya Airport (AYT), Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW), Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB).
Airports in Türkiye outside the live data fetch area; aircraft around them may not appear on the map: Hakkari Yüksekova Selahaddin Eyyubi Airport (YKO).
For now, the airport list includes airports in Türkiye with an IATA code and, in other countries, large and medium airports with an IATA code at most 5,000 km from the nearest airport in Türkiye. Most airports in other countries are outside the live data fetch area, so aircraft around them may not appear on the map.
Airport and runway data is updated daily from OurAirports. Runway bearings are true bearings, computed from the runway end coordinates where available.
Data sources and licences
- Live aircraft positions: ADSB.lol, licensed under the ODbL 1.0. The stored position and track data is a database derived from it and stays under the ODbL.
- Airport and runway data: OurAirports, public domain.
- Official Turkish airport names: DHMİ, the airport operators and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (English names are translations of them); OurAirports for new names not confirmed yet.
- Airline codes: VRS standing-data, CC0 (no attribution required; credited as a courtesy).
- Vector map and the country borders on the satellite map: OpenFreeMap © OpenMapTiles, map data © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL).
- Satellite imagery (when shown): Powered by Esri · Esri, Vantor, Earthstar Geographics, and the GIS User Community.
- Weather: aviationweather.gov (NOAA Aviation Weather Center); reports are produced by the airports’ meteorological offices. Automatically decoded; not an official briefing.
Aircraft privacy
- Military aircraft are not shown on the map, in search or in the API.
- Registrations of aircraft in the PIA or LADD programmes are not shown.
- Aircraft on the administrator’s blocklist are not shown on the map, in search or in the API.
